Ministry Description
To provide a Catholic religious education for the public and private school parish children, including sacramental preparation. Also provides the coordination in preparing children with their parents for the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. Students in Religious Education classes, receive teachings and formation in the areas of Bible and tradition, Catechism of the Catholic Church, Liturgy and Prayers; and they have the opportunity to participate in activities to enhance their ability to explain the truth of our Faith to others.
First Communion
The sacrament in which we receive the Body and Blood of Christ, who is truly and really present under the appearances of bread and wine, and in which we are most fully joined to Christ and to the Church.
According to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, every Roman Catholic Church is required to offer 2 years of First Communion Classes. These classes are for children ages 7 thru 13 that have been baptized.
For their first year of classes, they are given on Saturdays 9:00am to 10:30am. For the second year, classes continue being on Saturdays but from 11:00am to 12:30pm.
Parents are also required to attend classes during this time, so that you can help your children at home when they have questions.
